Guardian Girls Karate Australia supports Stand with Audrey

Guardian Girls Karate Australia is proud to partner with Stand with Audrey, an Australian not-for-profit initiative created in memory of Audrey Griffin and dedicated to building safer communities. Through education, awareness and community connection, Stand with Audrey supports young people with the confidence, awareness and skills to navigate the world around them.

How is Guardian Girls involved?

In 2025, Guardian Girls Karate Australia participated in Light Up, a major music concert held at Gosford Polytec Stadium to raise funds for Stand with Audrey. As part of the event, Guardian Girls Karate delivered taster sessions to more than 50 students, introducing young women and girls to practical skills in confidence, boundaries and personal safety.

Since then, the partnership has grown.

In 2026, Guardian Girls Karate Australia and Stand with Audrey will deliver the NSW StreetSmart Safety Series pilot on the Central Coast, bringing Guardian Girls Karate sessions into schools and universities.

The program is designed to meet young women and girls where they are. Through practical, age-appropriate sessions, participants build confidence, understand boundaries, develop safety awareness and learn skills they can carry into everyday life.

Together with Stand with Audrey, Guardian Girls Karate is creating opportunities for young women and girls to build confidence before they need it, find their voice before it is tested, and know they are not alone.

Griffith University partnership

Griffith University is the first university in the world to partner with Guardian Girls Karate and deliver the full eight-week program. Through practical sessions focused on confidence, boundaries, safety awareness and self-protection, the program supports women and girls to feel stronger, safer and more connected as they move through university life.

Guardian Girls Karate Australia is proud to partner with Griffith University, in Queensland Australia, the first university in the world to partner with the program.

In May 2026, Griffith University completed the inaugural eight-week Guardian Girls Karate course delivered in a university setting. The program gave students practical, age-appropriate skills in confidence, boundaries, safety awareness and self-protection, while creating a supportive environment for young women to learn together as they move through university life.

The results were powerful, with nothing but praise for the course.

“It teaches you to be confident in yourself, when your gut tells you something is not right”.

“I thought I knew what to do to protect myself, but now I realise that there’s so much I didn’t know, and there is so much that I want to keep learning with karate and with the Guardian Girls Karate”.

The Griffith University partnership demonstrates how universities can take practical action to support the safety, wellbeing and confidence of female students and staff.  It sends a powerful message about the importance of women and girls feeling safe, supported and capable on campus. For many young women, university is a time of independence, transition and new social environments. Guardian Girls Karate helps participants build confidence before they need it, understand boundaries before they are tested, and feel connected to a community around them.
